Dr. Freedom Cheteni-Mandela, grandson of Nelson Mandela and son of Dr. Makaziwe Mandela, is a neuroscientist and education technology pioneer dedicated to advancing educational equity through immersive learning experiences.
As Head of the VR School and working alongside Stanford University, Dr. Cheteni is at the forefront of integrating extended reality (XR) and artificial intelligence into education. His work focuses on making quality education accessible to all students, regardless of geographic or economic barriers.
Drawing inspiration from his grandfather's belief that "education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world," Dr. Cheteni advocates for federal policy changes to recognize virtual learning as a legitimate and critical educational infrastructure.
"If we're to truly close the learning gap, every kid in this country must have access to experiential learning that VR offers."
